A howl in the Night - Space Wolves progress

Painting is progressing...

Playtesting has lead to list tweaks, which has lead to plastics arms being pulled off left right and center. So painting has been very stop start. It doesnt help that Space Wolves are covered in wolf crap that needs painting too. I am reminded of the Raven Guards simplicity in these times.

My Wolf Lord has had a head swap, along with wolf guard and grey hunter pack making it to completion. A shooty dread has also been hacked up and converted with wolf cr...totems.

My brain is also playing bat around with the thought of Thunderwolves (hooooo), but GWs insistence on not giving us plastics means a significant conversion and wallet delve. This may or may not happen, depending on which side of the bed I wake up on come converting day. But the juicy stats and possible total lack of GW models ever does spur me on.

Gaming wise the Night Wolves are about to join the valiant defense of the Vos system, in a campaign with us Dallas dwellers. And also managed to finish second in a doubles tourny with my Blood Angels teammate. Once he gets the red tomb of death in April we are expecting to win every doubles tournament this side of 6th edition. I'll drink an ale to my blood sucking fellow astartes there.

  1. The red tomb of death.. hahaha

You are right about all that wolf cr.. er..totem. It makes me rethink my decision to do a SW army. Until today, I still have not make my decision about them and return to doing my Raven Guard instead.

    Congrats on your success.

  2. For sure, they have a lot of detail on them, but they are very characterful to convert so this overrides the painting gripes. Plus they game so much better than RG.

I have sourced a very good thunderwolf sculptor, so they are on the way. The dread and typhoon are done, and pics will be up soon!

I am hating playing with unpainted minis, but would not get a game in until Christmas if I waited!

I wish I know someone who can sculpt the TW for me. Those things doesn't comes cheap and I want 6 of them!
