Ok, finally got my second faction for Infinity underway. A Yu Jing Sectorial, the Japanese!
Where as my Nomads are tricksters and camo loving vagabonds, the Japanese are a fast aggressive force comprising of Samurai, Ninjas and Bikes. Choosing to go Sectorial this time I am limited to certain units (the Japanese ones...), but I get access to link teams.
I had a few options here, but chose the Haramaki who are “youngsters eager for glory and prestige who follow the path of the Samurai for the wrong reasons.”. Which is superb, and I really love the models too. These guys are pricy though, so I opted for the minimum link team size of 3, which is enough to give them a buff in the reactive phase. Hence the missile launcher, heh heh.
Color wise, I tossed around several ideas but kept coming back to the classic red, white and black. But unlike my Nomads I will be using these colors in varying ways. The Ninjas will be primarily crimson red, the noble Domaru white, and the reckless Aragoto bikers will be black. For the Haramaki I switched the studio theme and went for a different red, with sparks of icy white and blue detail.
Much like my Nomads these are just above table top standard, choosing to 'get them done' rather than spend hours with layer upon layer of highlights.
Hope you guys like em anyways, more from the JSA soon. I'm thinking bikes...

Love-em. Colours very reminiscient of Rising Sun imagery.
ReplyDeleteSculpt-wise, not so sure I am appreciating the MC Hammer trousers tho...
Well, the Hammer pants are not to everyones tastes, but I kinda like em. Only a handful of models have them Dai, so you shouldn't have to avert your eyes too often! ;)
ReplyDeleteLooking good Sir. I think that red, white and black are the colours that do suit the faction best (Japanese flag and all that).
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough, I'm working on two of those Haramaki at the moment.
Very cool, would love to see some pics of your Haramaki too. Any up yet?
DeleteYeah, I think the fluff for JSA also reinforces the use of their colors. Proud individuals. I just couldn't settle on a range of colors that I thought was stronger and better.
Yep, I've some still unfinished stuff here

Bashing through them to meet an event deadline, then I'll go back and add the detailing and finally finish the bits to a better level.
They are looking good! It's sometimes cool painting under pressure for an event, pushes you to get them done. And like you, I often go back later to add lil touches of detail here and there. I have tourny on 9th but running the Nomads. JSA are still green.
DeleteIs this the independent forum set up after the whole advertising affair? or just your local group of gamers? Either way looks cool, good work.
Its the post advertising forum set up by people from the Inf forums. Looking good so far and an independent forum is always going to be good for the players.
DeleteStill got a wedge of JSA minis to paint outside of the stuff I'm using in the event, so hopefully I can keep the steam up and finish those as well when I get back (including my namesake mini), but the pull of that Aleph faction I've got in blisters is getting stronger and stronger...............
(Started with JSA, but I consider Aleph my main faction, which'll give the horrors to a Nomad like you!)
Cool, I am all registered there too. I did wonder where a few of the regular forum faces had gone. It's a great idea, even better that CB supports it.
DeleteWho doesn't have a pile of blisters waiting (that always gets added to!). I think you have to paint to enjoy it, sometimes that means painting something that may not be in a current list etc. After painting 40 Dark Eldar Wyches I realized this! So I say slip in the odd Aleph model where you can.
In the beginning I very almost ran Aleph. But they are rampnat in my area, and I fell for the Nomad fluff. Alpeh is a great faction, real showcase for the game. But yeah, they are the mortal enemy and I take great joy in blowing the head off Asuras ;)
