Painted JSA - Kempetai and Keisotsu Link

More JSA freedom fighters for the rise against the oppressive Yu Jing empire. The female Kempetai and Keisotsu link team are signed up and ready for action...

The Kempeitai is a clandestine and subversive unit that has infiltrated the Nipponese Army of Yu Jing. Their members are diehard nationalists, loyal fanatics to the Japanese Emperor, their symbol of the subjugated Japanese nation. Their ultimate goal is to free Japan from the tyranny of Yu Jing, using any means necessary.

In Yu Jing society those of Japanese ethnic origin are considered second rate citizens. Apart from this, the Nipponese social subgroup is highly hierarchized so the members of their lower classes have a very poor standard of living. For these people the best way to move up the social scale is to serve in the StateEmpire Army. The troops than make up these regiments are called Keisotsu, which in Japanese is a title of the greatest honour meaning Excellent soldier.

The female Kempetai is one of my favorite Yu Jing minis, and even though i already have the male sculpt, I still picked it up and painted it. I also kept her colors pretty close to the studio scheme, which also gave me some variation to the male one.

The Keisotsu are super cheap, and I batched painted all 4 with a pretty quick paint scheme. These guys just never get any respect. But they do link with Yuriko, and have access to some cheap specialists for ITS tournament missions. I gave the one model red shoulder pads with a cross on to pick him out as a paramedic. While the missile launcher guy has grey hair, as I figured he has survived enough fights to be trusted with doing damage with it. And in his first battle, the first shot he downed an Iguana. So paint does obviously effect performance... :)

That pretty much wraps up my JSA until a new juicy release or two. So I've taken some army shots for the next post.

The bat rep will happen soon, as real life is causing havoc on both our schedules.

  1. Good work yet again! Interesting touch on the white trousers and black armour - sort of a negative of the more standard colour schemes out there, including my own. I'm liking the coat having differing colours for the Kempetai too - really need to pick up another one of them as the male version is the weaker of the two sculpts.

    1. Thanks man! Yeah i still wanted to use the JSA colors of black, red and white, but still be a little different to the studio scheme.

The female Kempetai is the better sculpt for sure. I actually picked up this one so I could proxy her as Yuriko before I decided to buy the Dire Foes boxset. But now she gets fielded more than the male as she is way cooler.
