The company has evolved from its codex roots as a reserve company, as have many in the chapter. It retains its assault orientation by sustaining four assault squads and a number of bikes and landspeeders in excess of a codex battle company.
Recent times have seen the 8th re-build from the ill fated Eros campaign which claimed many of the companies’ heroes and number. Under the command of Captain Levitas the company is forging a new era and utilizing fusion tactics. Both brilliant and controversial the captain causes both concern and respect with his methods.
The 8th is known for its skills with sword and lightning claw, hence its moniker the Blades of Deliverance. The company uses a higher proportion of tracked vehicles over the much favored drop pods. Thunder hawks carriers deliver the rhinos and razorbacks of the company along with heavy support in the shape of vindicators. The assault squads then pour into the holes created while closely supported my fast moving tactical squads. It is rumored that Captain levitas favors the ‘sure thing’ of a rhino drop in place of the haphazard drop pod assault. But the company still retains a full load of pods should the need arise.
“Some may question my tactics and my methods, but I will wreak havoc on those that stole away the honor of the company and the chapter. I will protect the innocent and return this decaying imperium to its rightful direction, and in doing so I will use what ever methods I deem necessary.
We will strike from the darkness and bring the storm of blades with the thunder of vindication. We are the eighth company of the nineteenth legion and we will bring victory, of that be assured” – Captain Feros Levitas at the council of Hexperax
