A Cavalier Approach to Video Games

I've been working on a blog for one of my other hobbies. Video games. It's a place for me to drop thoughts, news, reviews, rumors, and editorials. Also track what i'm playing, as it's always fun to look back. Do check it out if you think you might enjoy the musings of a gamer.

  1. I left video games behind a while ago. Just a time sink with nothing to show for the time spent in front of the TV tweaking knobs and hitting buttons.

And I'll step off my soapbox now. ;)

    1. Hmm. I have to strongly disagree with you there mate. To me, they are experiencing stories, worlds, and characters in interactive worlds. There is the visual immersion, and the inspiration. Plus from a social aspect you are sharing those worlds and adventures with other people. Like reading a book, or watching a movie, it is about the experience, the journey, and the memories. 'Nothing to show' is a very limited perspective on the media. I mean, after a session of D&D I have a few pieces of paper and a worn out pencil to 'show'. Yet in the minds eye i've just battled fantastical beasts as a stealthy rogue alongside close friends. It's a matter of perspective of course, it just bothers me a lot when people call video games a time waste. They are anything but.

Totally respect your opinion though, just adding my side to the debate :)

  2. Is HSN3 going to bring you back into the infinity fold?

    1. I never rule out a return to any game. Some times it can be a new model, rules, or I just get that itch again. Right now the Infinity player base isn't there, and the little hobby time I can eek out goes to D&D or video games.

WIth Infinity i've always loved the game system, lore, and aesthetic, but truly hate working with metal minis. Makes converting tough, which was a big pull with 40k. If they ever moved to plastic i'd be all in again - or if GW did a game that wasn't set in a depressing gothic future.
