An Update of Sorts

It's been a while since my last post, so i'd say a bit of catching up is in order...

Dungeons and Dragons - 5th ed

You may recall that I delved into pen and paper RPGs for the first time earlier in the year with Pathfinder. Well despite a fun first session, we encountered some scheduling issues, and so had to put that on hold. But a few of us that could gather on a regular basis decided to give D&D 5th ed a go.

Having put a lot of effort into my Rogue he made the switch over with me. His story was very much getting interesting, and I already had his background set.

With a few sessions under our belt I am very much enjoying (and preferring) D&D 5th. For a new player it's friendly, and we can be left to get on with the adventuring and tell our tale.

We have an eclectic party. A human fighter, gnome wizard, dragonborn bard, pirate wench cleric, and myself as the half elf rogue assassin.

Infinity

Well firstly, I am going to get back to Infinity soon. And i'm very aware an exciting new rule set is upon us. I've just been busy doing other things, after what was a long and intense period buried in Infinity s hobby. Just taking a side quest to experience other games and media.

But as you can see Corvus Belli has gone all out for this new and improved edition of the game. So at some point expect some new painted minis, and a bat rep testing driving the new rules.

Destiny

I've also spent time in deep space pushing back the darkness with fellow Guardians in Destiny. While the story leaves a lot to be desired, the gun play with friends is still incredibly slick. Still having a blast, and the DLC is about to drop...

So if you are on PS4, feel free to send a friend invite with 'blogger' in the message. PSN tag is: CavalierArcher

So anyone play Infinity 3rd ed yet? How about Destiny? D&D 5th?

More gaming shenanigans soon, but for now seasons greetings to you all. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  1. Nope nope and nope.

Nice to see you're still around and healthy and playing though mate.

Best regards to you and yours this Xmas!

  2. I playtested D&D 5th over the course of a year and a half or so and was pleasantly surprised that some of my suggestions made it into the book (and likely, I wasn't the only one who suggested them). Been trying to get a group going locally but family and scheduling seems to be a hangup.

I'm eagerly looking forward to playing N3. I sort of put actual Infinity gaming on hold until the new system drops. In the meantime I'm working on painting up some Morat Aggression Force.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too! Glad to see you peak your head up.

  3. Cheers guys! I need to update more often. Thanks for still following during the quiet months.

I think with Infinity i'm looking forward to 3rd ed, I just would have preferred a new sectorial book personally. I get all the reasons Corvus Belli has for doing 3rd first though. At the end of an edition things tend to get quiet, and they did so in my neck of the woods anyway, so will see what the new edition brings.

D&D 5th is fun. I'll post a few more tales of our adventures and how the system is working for us soon. We should have our next session next month. My Rogue has taken decidedly darker path than I expected, but the Assassin skill tree was too tempting.

    1. A forum mate in the UK did the same with his rogue for the very same reason you stated. I've put the idea forward to my gaming group to see if they wanted to switch to 5th Ed, but after our own playtester in the group described his opinions on the changes, we elected not to. We are all firmly entrenched in Pathfinder for our Fantasy games (Until his own rules set is ready to play, that is) and after 4th Ed (Ugh...) I think the boys are largely burned out on D&D proper.
